Repeat prescriptions are medicines prescribed for you on a regular basis by the doctors. A re-order form is enclosed with each prescription. With all repeat orders please give a minimum of 3 full working days notice.
There are various ways to order a repeat prescription:-
- Ticking the boxes on the repeat prescription form and leaving in the repeat prescription box at the surgery. You can do this when you collect your medication so you do not have to remember the following month.
- By post – please allow a week before collection.
- By fax.
- Via the Patient Access facility which you can access here.
Medication is dispensed on a monthly basis to enable monitoring of drug usage and it also assists in keeping wastage to a minimum. The plastic boxes in Dispensary represent only a small part of unused drugs which are destroyed.
If a patient needs to order medication out of sequence, for instance to ensure sufficient medication when on holiday, please ask in good time and we will be happy to oblige.
Non-Availability of Items
We always do our best to fulfill your orders but on occasions it may be that our suppliers are unable to supply a specific item. This may be for a variety of reasons – manufacturer’s shortages, restrictions, supply delays. We then issue a signed prescription so that you can go to the larger High Street pharmacies who carry greater stocks and have access to a wider range of suppliers. We only make this request as a last resort.
When a patient has a query regarding their medication we will raise a query with the appropriate doctor and advise you when will be the best time to contact us for a response.
